Obscure Sorrows

2022 - 2023
Obscure Sorrows is a video work, installation and a performance about living and being together with different nature places.
In these ritual-like encounters, the artists listened to Malla fell, the sniffing of a white-tailed deer, danced for the pebbles of the Kilpisjärvi shore, and were sometimes stopped by a snowstorm, gusts of wind and miraculous shades of color.
In the work, we examine the formation of understanding and connection between oneself and the different places and species. This understanding is based on embodiment, senses, emotion and imagination. We practice ways of being in the world and observing different forms of life through listening and respect. We pondered how to modify and open our own essence to such frequencies where we resonate together with others?
Exhibited: Work-in-progress showing and a conversation (conversation together with artist, researcher Leena Valkeapää) at Kilpisjärvi Biological Research Station, Spring 2022, at Platform Artspace Vaasa, with video work and performances as part of Pohjanmaa tanssii-festival in Fall 2022 and at Yö Galleria Helsinki as part of Night of video works in Spring 2023.
